HEART & SOUL NIGHT: RECAP

HEART & SOUL NIGHT: RECAP

This past Tuesday we hosted our very first My City Church Heart & Soul night at the Waiting Room in Benson, located in the heart of Omaha! The energy in the building was electric and the Spirit of God was moving throughout the entire evening as we met to worship our Savior!

In all honesty, this was one of the most energetic and momentum-building events we have had in our existence as a church. The buzz surrounding the event on our social media accounts, within our church and throughout the city of Omaha was nearly tangible. You could feel it. As people started to arrive in Benson, just pulling up and finding parking spots, we knew God was on the move. People were walking into a bar…a bar! And they brought all their pain, their hurts, their victories and their hope and placed it in the hands of Jesus!

Some didn’t know what they were getting into when they walked in. The doors opened at 6pm and people kept filtering in and you just knew it was going to be something special. A special night for a God Who is worthy of all praise.

The band took the stage shortly after 7pm and the crowd was already rowdy, eager and Jesus was ready. As scripture tells us in Matthew 18:20 “where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” People may not have known what to expect, but it soon became evident that people we’re going to respond to what God was doing through the songs being performed.

As the night progressed, people were jumping, throwing their arms and singing at the top of their lungs! Grown adults were dancing around, jumping up and down to the beat of the music and genuinely feeling emotions. Smiles so big you’d think they were fake and tears of joy and gratitude streaming down the faces of people who were encountering a God who loves them dearly.  All because praising Jesus and worshipping is what we are made to do.

Pastor Jesse stepped on stage briefly to share the Word of God with an audience who was there and ready to receive Him. Pastor reminded us that we were made for worship. And in this world we can easily be deceived to worship other things: career, relationships, money, etc. However, we were created to worship our God.

Luke 12:30 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

This is essence as to why we are so eager and driven to host Heart & Soul Nights at My City Church: we want to love God with all of our heart and all of our soul! The best way to do that is to worship and love God with everything we have. Allowing Jesus to invade and explode into our lives and bring hope, restoration and life!

Pastor encouraged us that there may have been things that have happened to us and we may have reverted back to a previous life that Jesus called us out of. Or maybe we haven’t accepted His grace and forgiveness. Regardless of situation, it was clear that the message was from Jesus telling us that now is the time. Now is the time to get involved and go seek out Jesus. That if we love Him with our hearts, souls and minds He will meet us where we are and elevate us to another level and that the calling on our lives isn’t reduced to our current circumstance!

If your situation is not perfectly setup then that is exactly how God wants it. Look beyond the circumstance. Step out blindly. Jesus told Peter and the disciples to take the boat to the other side of the shore. They hit a storm! If Peter can get out of the boat and go on the faith that Jesus can work a miracle to walk on water then how can we not believe in our God to lead us if we step out blindly? We can prophesy and speak into existence the change and hope we have in Jesus to overcome any situation or circumstance!

As the night wrapped up, the band crushed a couple more songs and people raised their hands for salvation. An audience of over 400 people at our first ever Heart and Soul night saw around 40 people give their lives to Christ! We couldn’t be more excited for these hearts that encountered Jesus for the first time!

This is why we do what we do and why our mission is to love God, love people and to lead in life! This experience isn’t a one-time thing, either. The spirit of God is present every Sunday at My City Church and we cannot wait to see you this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:15!
