21 Days of Prayer & Fasting
Topic: #PRAYFIRST | Our City
Jeremiah 29:7 (NIV) - Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper."
God wants to bring real change in the city of Omaha. God wants the city of Omaha to prosper and for the people who live here to experience His grace. This is why He tells us to pray for the city and to seek its peace and prosperity. Simply put, when the city prospers, the church will prosper.
I believe that the local church is called to lead the way in this - to not only pray, but to step out in faith with a bold vision that will cause it to prosper. My City Church has a vision for this city and it is simple: to lift up JESUS in our city by loving people and empowering leaders in every sphere of life.
The church is called to expand and grow, creating room for people to encounter Jesus. That is why this year we are going to launch more and more services, creating space for more people. On Vision Sunday we will be launching a 3rd service at 5pm on Sundays. Let’s pray for it to prosper so that our city will prosper. Let’s go a step further and believe for the grace to launch 3 more services and another campus by the end of 2018. We want the city of Omaha to prosper as the local church prospers.
In order for the city to prosper the church must be in prayer and take bold action to reach more people. At My City Church we never want to stop expanding and growing. There is 1,000,000 people who live in the Omaha metro area, and we will not stop until they are reached with the life-giving message of Jesus. As one of my dear friends put it, we will not stop until:
Omaha, we love you and are praying for your prosperity and for a mighty move of God in 2018.
Let’s take time to make this personal. Write down five names of people you know in this city who do not know Jesus. Pray for them by name each morning during this 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting. Pray that God would cause their lives to prosper first and foremost with an encounter with Him that will change their lives.
