Have you ever gotten into a new hobby? The thrill and excitement of diving wholeheartedly into something completely different and foreign is kind of addictive. That is if you know what you are doing. A lot of hobbies take some sort of skill that you either have or needs to be developed.

The thing with hobbies is most of the time they come in and out of our lives fast because it can take a lot of work to learn something new. Eventually, that thrill and excitement begins to lessen unless we are committed to our hobby.

Philippians 3:12-14 (MSG)

I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward - to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.

Our pursuit in Christ is just like that hobby. If we don't COMMIT to our faithfulness in Him then our relationship with Him will diminish. TRYING to be a believer, to do things right and take all the right steps will not give us full freedom from the enemy until with train ourselves to seek out Jesus...constantly.

New Year's resolutions are the yearly test if we are going to try at change or train for change. Most resolutions are given up on within the first 7 days of the year. How can people move on and change if we can't last a week committing ourselves to making ourselves better? TRAINING! We have to prepare ourselves for God's opportunities! The majority of God’s opportunities come when fully committed to something.

In the book of Mark, chapter 4 shows us a realistic example of God being the farmer and sowing His seeds of change in our lives. We as Christians get the opportunity to choose which soil we are for God's seeds.  The more fertile the soil the more change we can see in our lives.

Getting a vision for what you want in your life with the changes you see coming is what starts it all. Letting go of the old things that are in your past or even present that might be holding you back. Breaking strongholds is a big step in setting you free to train in the Lord.

Commitment will get you to the things you want in every area of your life. Let’s step out in faith this year and commit to the training that God is putting us through and trusting Him for the outcome!

At My City Church, we are excited to announce our Vision Sunday will be on January 21! This is going to be a huge day for our church and we are excited to announce the start of a 5pm service! This is a great step to seeing a large vision that YOU can be a part of!
