CREATIVE NIGHT RECAP
Just a young gun with a quick fuse
I was uptight, wanna let loose
I was dreaming of bigger things
And wanna leave my own life behind
Not a yes sir, not a follower
Fit the box, fit the mold
Have a seat in the foyer, take a number
I was lightning before the thunder
In case you're not familiar with this song, this is the first verse of Thunder by Imagine Dragons. Adam started off the night by breaking down each line of the first verse. Have you ever dreamed of bigger things, wanted to be a leader, be the lighting before the thunder? This is what God has planned for all our lives, he made us creatively in his image.
1 Samuel 17:38-40 38Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. 39David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. "I cannot go in these," he said to Saul, "because I am not used to them." So he took them off. 40Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.
I trust most of you have heard the story of David & Goliath. To defeat Goliath, David used 5 smooth stones. When there is a storm brewing in your life what 5 stones will you have with you? For me personally, I look at this as the 5 people I surround myself with. My number one, God of course, my number 2 is my fiancé, 3-5 would be my close friends.
Your 5 stones should be what you throw at the enemy, when the world is telling is you no or your eyes are not open to God's bigger plan. Always remember the enemy will not will not only destroy you, but will distract you. We need to be available to God. Act like where we want to go, but not where we are. God always has something bigger for us, so when we open our hearts and available to him, we can destroy the enemy.
If we don't prepare, we can't participate, if we can't participate we can't prevail. We can leave that old life behind and be the lightening before the thunder. With God's creative vision and our open hearts, we can defeat the Goliath in our lives.
