“Christ brought us together through his death on the Cross. The Cross got us to embrace, and that was the end of the hostility. Christ came and preached peace to you outsiders and peace to us insiders. He treated us as equals, and so made us equals. Through him we both share the same Spirit and have equal access to the Father.”

Ephesians 2:16-18 (MSG)

Have you ever noticed in today’s society there are thousands of groups that unite together because they share the same personal goals and ideals, but that we as mankind have lost what it means to have true unity. The Oxford dictionary defines unity as “the state of forming a complete and harmonious whole.” When Jesus died for US on the cross, he died for everyone, he brought everyone together. When you put Jesus over everything it brings unity over everything, and that is the end of hostility. The devil understands that his best chance is to divide and conquer.

“But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, ‘Every kingdom divided against itself is laid to waste and a divided household falls.’ Luke 11:17” He wants to take your focus off of Jesus and put it on yourself. To think that your problems are greater than the Solution to all of your problems. We are not here to make this about us. We are not here to put a check in the box of religiosity. We are here to walk in unity, to speak life, and to carry light. That is the way to victory.

When you are focused on your problems, you begin to isolate yourself. A sheep left alone in isolation will always be devoured by the wolf. Isolated Christians become victimized Christians. Our strength lies in the unity found in Christ. Unity is threaded into every aspect of our lives, relationships, the economy, our communities, military strategies, psychology, and etc. You have got to remove the ME and get a WE. We are better together because we are in this together. God won’t let us function without a Spirit of unity. One is too small a number for God. Protect the unity. Think of how God taught us to pray.

Our Father, Who art in heaven

Hallowed be Thy Name;

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those

Who trespass against us;

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

Don’t let the devil get a foothold in your life by disrupting the unity.

Follow the teachings of Paul in Philippians 2:12-16; “What I’m getting at, friends, is that you should simply keep on doing what you’ve done from the beginning. When I was living among you, you lived in responsive obedience. Now that I’m separated from you, keep it up. Better yet, redouble your efforts. Be energetic in your life of salvation, reverent and sensitive before God. That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give Him the most pleasure. Do everything readily and cheerfully - no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night so I’ll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing.”

Putting Jesus over everything will carry you through anything. Put Jesus over everything and you will find unity in everything. There is something beautiful that happens when you let Jesus in, the whole atmosphere changes. Become friends with God, He is already friends with you.

We have to know that we carry the light because we have a message to bring into the night.
