“MANY ARE THE PLANS IN A PERSON’S HEART, BUT IT IS THE LORD’S PURPOSE THAT PREVAILS.”

PROVERBS 19:21

Have you ever had a dream where you are running with no end in sight, but you figure out you can leap and go a further distance faster. Then you wake up and realize that it was all a dream and you can’t leap places to get their quicker, you can’t fly because we have gravity. Gravity is the world’s least understood force, but it is not God’s. Gravity is God’s plan. In and of itself gravity is an invisible relationship between every particle in the universe that attracts every other particle. It cannot be shielded in any way. Intervening objects have no effect on the attraction between two separated objects. Gravity cannot somehow slowly arise by mutation or natural selection, it remains the same as it was at the foundation of the universe. In the same way God devised a plan to keep the universe together, he devised a plan for sexuality that cannot be altered.

GOD’S PLAN LEADS US TO DISCOVER THE PURPOSE OF OUR SEXUALITY.”

Before you can know the plan you have to know where you are going, otherwise you are just lost. Woven into every one of God’s plans you will find a common thread, eternity. Everything he does is for the end game of spending all of eternity with Him. For relationships this aligns under the word “covenant.” God operates in the context of covenant. The covenant is something to be honored and cherished, your vow and contract with you, your significant other, and God. What is God’s plan in order for you to have this covenant? God has a plan for sexuality and it is called purity.

Purity by definition means without mixture. To be spiritually clean because someone has been purified by GOD, free from the influences of sin. Purity is more about what God has for you than it is the restriction and holding back society nowadays thinks it to be. Purity is a pursuit it is not perfection. Purity is without mixture, that doesn’t mean it is without mistakes. Purity is about setting your heart towards God. Purity is a heart matter long before it becomes a head matter. It takes a conscious and continuous effort to position your heart into complete surrender to God. This plan applies to everyone; single, married, etc. In today’s marriages 50% end in divorce and for 33% of those marriages it was caused by a spouse being unfaithful. Just because you get married doesn’t mean you reached the end of temptation, all it takes is a thought that you let bloom into an action.

THOUGHT => IMAGINATION => VISION => PLAN => ACTION

Purity begins in the heart and travels to the mind, there it turns into a thought and progresses to action. . . if you allow it. They call it a train of thought because you decided what train you want to get on. You decided how you handle that thought. Turn your thoughts to God. A heart surrendering to God is a heart that is practicing purity. In the book “The Practice of the Presence of God” Brother Lawrence describes what this looks like in action. “There is neither an art nor science for going to GOD, but only a heart resolutely determined to apply itself to nothing but Him, or for His sake, and love Him only.” God’s plan has always been purity and it has nothing to do with sex it has everything to do with your heart being surrendered to God.

“FINALLY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, WHATEVER IS TRUE, WHATEVER IS NOBLE, WHATEVER IS RIGHT, WHATEVER IS PURE, WHATEVER IS LOVELY, WHATEVER IS ADMIRABLE – IF ANYTHING IS EXCELLENT OR PRAISEWORTHY- THINK ABOUT SUCH THINGS. WHATEVER YOU HAVE LEARNED OR RECEIVED OR HEARD FROM ME, OR SEEN IN ME- PUT IT INTO PRACTICE. AND THE GOD OF PEACE WILL BE WITH YOU.”

PHILIPPIANS 4:8-9

I will leave you with the story of a beggar and a king. There was a beggar who was begging on a street corner when the King comes up to him. The King says to him, “I have all the means to bless you, food, money, clothing, etc. but today I am going to ask you, what do you have to give me?” The beggar with a pocket full of money he has collected throughout the last couple of days pulls out one coin and says the the King, “here you go, this is all I have.” The King takes it and says “thank you, I will multiply that by 1,000” and he gives him a bag full of money 1,000 times what the beggar gave him. The King goes on his way leaving the beggar with more than he ever had and a thought. . .

“WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WOULDN’T HAVE HELD BACK? IF I HAD GIVEN ALL OF MY RESOURCES. IF I SURRENDERED MY LIFE COMPLETELY TO GOD?”

God just wants to bless you over and over again. He wants to love you and be a part of your life. In return he wants you to pursue Him. Purity is a pursuit.
