The most common question asked is “what is God’s plan for my life” and this can best be interpreted as “how do I get a vision for my life.”  God’s plan is destiny developed through your design.  It all starts with a thought which turns into imagination which turns into vision then a plan and finally action.  If you don’t like where your life is right now, follow that path backward to see where you got off track, typically this is vision.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 Then the LORD replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Have you ever been to a new city and are trying to find your way around?  You usually use landmarks for directions until you learn your way around that city.  If you are directionally challenged like me, I still use landmarks for directions.  If someone tells me to go North, I usually have to ask which way that is, as I need to know where is the closest Scooters, do I drive towards Scooters or away from it.

Vision is like landmarks which God has laid out in front of us.  Vision points to our destination that is guided by the core of who we are.

Vision is birthed from your heart and comes out of your core.   Have you ever noticed when you work out at the gym, if you are trying to only work your arms and legs, you somehow have sore abs?  When we focus on our core, everything else will follow.

What are your core beliefs?  This is something that will NOT change.  These are the values that locate us on a journey towards destiny.  Your core beliefs come from God’s word.

Being lost is not being able to identify where you are.  To know where you want to go, you first must know where you are.  Core beliefs locate you on the journey of God’s plan for your life.  Until you have your core beliefs identified, you will often feel like you are blown around by life’s changes.

What are your core values? These guide us on our journey toward heaven.  What do you value as a person.

  • Think of the people in your life you admire, what do they have in common? Make a list of these people, your heroes, and you will be able to find out what you aspire to be.  Often times we admire what we aspire to!
  • What is your natural response to any given situation?

When you sabotage your core values, you take away from God’s destiny in your life.

What is your core focus? This is what leads us and gives us direction and momentum.

  •     What makes you laugh?
  •     What makes you cry?
  •     What makes you angry?

We need a cause to live for not a goal to achieve.   This is why vision is so important and knowing your core beliefs, values and focus will assist you in seeing God’s Plan.
