GOD'S PLAN: FAILING TO PLAN | PLANNING TO FAIL
God’s Plan: Part IV
Commit your actions to the Lord and your plan shall succeed. [Proverbs 16:3]
During week 4 of God’s plan we have started the fourth process which is planning. Just a quick refresher of the previous steps Pastor Jesse discussed during this series are:
Thoughts: We are called to live a selfless life. We must lose our life before we gain it. So ensure your thoughts have the right motivation behind them. Ensure God is leading your thoughts and dreams. “Change your thoughts, change your life.”- Pastor Jesse
Imagination: Your imagination needs to be attached to God’s mission. Ask yourself… How can I make a difference? God will continue to work on your imagination until it is less self-serving. Let God be the start of your imagination for His good is more than can be imagined.
Vision: “Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.” Habakkuk 2:2 NIV.
You design will guide you to your destiny. Who has God created you to be? What are your core beliefs/core values?
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3 NIV.
The planning phase of your God’s Plan will play a crucial role in the outcome. Often times lack of planning leads towards failure. The thing with failure though is you need to expect it, learn from it and grow from it. “Plan to fail, don’t fail to plan.”- Pastor Jesse
Knowing all plans can and will have setbacks is inevitable. The key is to know how to deal with these setbacks without giving up. But sadly this is how most dreams end. Failure brings shame which brings defeat. It is important to know that shame does not come from God. Shame is a weapon straight from the enemy. It’s the voice saying “ You aren’t good enough.” You aren’t qualified.” Well good news! Jesus loved to use the bad for good and the unqualified for God’s purpose. Instead of shame, God will give you everything you need to dust yourself off, get back up and go at it again!
If your initial plan didn’t go as envisioned. Go back to where you last heard from God. Go back to your vision and pray. Pray for clear visual of where God sees your calling. Ask Him to silence your voice and other forces so you can here His will and His will alone. God and only God knows your destiny. Let the Holy Spirit be what guides you in the right direction.
Next evaluate where you are? And where do you need to go? Let the Holy Spirit answer this for you as well. You can have all of the supplies but if you don’t understand the direction you will get stuck. Always speak life into your vision. You are a child of God and you shall want for nothing. Ask God directly for what you need and declare it as yours.
There may be times when your plan is laid out all the way down to the most minute detail. However, you still don’t feel blessed or elevated. Again pray. Pray until you hear God’s voice clearly. Sometimes we feel we are ready for something God knows we haven’t grown into yet. God will never give more than we can handle but yet we ask for it all the time. Think back on how many times you were disappointed by not receiving a want. Only to realize how grateful that God knew what you needed all along. His timing is perfection.
Pastor Jesse spoke about growth during this process. God doesn’t want to set us up for failure. He is for you.. not against. Sometimes you are going through a growth period so that when you are matured in that area you will be able to handle all of the responsibility that comes with your inheritance. Growth is a choice it doesn’t come automatically. So be in tune with areas of which you could improve and perfect. So that one day you will here;
“Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.” Luke 19:17 NKJV
Be assured your plan aligns with your design. For who you were created to be, by God himself. This will be the foundation that leads you to your destiny. How does your vision and plan fit into God’s calling on your life. How do they line up with the gifts and talents you were uniquely given? As long as your plan aligns with God’s will you will be blessed with everything you need. The core of that coming directly from your design. God will always provide.
“Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV
Your design/identity is not your plan. So it is most important to know that if your plan fails, You did not fail. No matter the circumstances you find yourself in, your faith must not waiver. Faith in your plan will never be enough. Faith can only come from knowing the truth which is found through the salvation of Jesus. We may stumble and fall at times but we are never defeated for the Lord is at our side.
As Children of God we are already promised our inheritance. Our Father has designed us each with unique gifts and talents. Those of this world and those of the heavens. You will always be given what you need. Just ask, believe and receive.
“Mortals make elaborate plans, but GOD has the last word.” Proverbs 16:1 MSG
Prayer is a powerful tool. Use it as a first resort not a last.
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”” Matthew 21:22 NIV
P – Praise God for all he has done, is doing and will do in your life. You are already promised and you have already received. So begin your prayers by thanking The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
R- Repent for your shortcomings. God’s mercy and grace is always renewed. We aren’t deserving but we remain blessed. So repent and vow to be obedient.
A- Ask. Next ask for others needs. Family members, co-workers, strangers, the lost. We are all God’s children so ask for the blessings of others as well.
Y- Yourself.. now is the time to ask for your needs, your plans, your vision. But most importantly ask for clear answers. Ask for God to show you how he sees you. Ask Him to show you what you were created for? Ask for His voice to be the loudest so that you can be confident in the next step you need to take.
