CANNOT BE HIDDEN:
FROM PASTOR SAMUEL DEUTH
Recap by Haily Anderson
I cannot begin to describe the presence of the Lord that filled the church at the 5pm service with this special message.
Pastor Samuel started off by reminding us that we need to always welcome the Holy Spirit in, even in this church it’s necessary, because He comes where He is invited and called. Lord, we welcome Your presence right now, guide us through Your word so we can hear what You need us to hear. In Your heavenly name, amen.
Matthew 5: 14-16 (NIV) “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
In 2019 we are building a church on a hill that cannot be hidden! We, as the people of the church, cannot be hidden. In our workplace, we cannot be hidden. At the grocery store, we cannot be hidden. In our classrooms, we cannot be hidden. In our friend groups, we cannot be hidden. In our high school, we cannot be hidden. At family events, we cannot be hidden. The words we speak put us on a path to where we are now, but God gives us the ability to bring light and joy and love to those that are around us, no matter the situation!
Along with Jesus, “you are the light of the world,” YOU. Jesus delegated the light to us as his disciples. The church is the light of this city. The church is the answer to the cry of this city. God responds by sending deliverance throughout the Bible. God sent our pastors to bring light into our city and raise it up, just as God brought us to Omaha to bring light to this city and raise it up.
